Today we drove a long way to Zhabagly in Kazakhstan. The most obvious difference is Kazakhstan seems much more european than its neighbours. Unlike Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan has retained the cyrillic alphabet with a few extra letters, and also has kept a lot more ties to Russia. There was also no welcome to Kazakstan sign and definately no mention of borat, despite the fictional characters effect on increase to tourism in the country.
The drive was mostly through grassy fields and plains. We had a homestay this evening in a couple of houses with most of the rooms decked out with beds for travellers to stay in. A large banquet dinner was provided, all agreeing it was more food than needed but obviously provided by out proud hosts. The same could be said for breakfast in the morning.
