Today, was our last full day in Hong Kong. Dad wanted to reminisce in Stanley, where he had some R&R after the Vietnam war. The concierge advised us to catch bus 6 or 6x to Stanley. We caught bus 6. Bus 6 is also the over the mountain rally driver bus. Roads not designed for a double decker bus were being driven like it was a rally. The scratches on the left side of the bus is a dead give away its been on route 6 duty.
Stanley itself is as quiet as HK can be. Nothing much left from when Dad was there, but a promenade and some eateries catering to westerners. Nothing gave it away as a place in Asia and it could have been easily an Australian beach side town, until you saw the asian fishing boats over the promenade wall.
We came back on the 6X bus, where X stands for express and it came through the Aberdeen tunnel. A quicker and more direct route and infinitely safer bus ride too.
This afternoon I let mum and dad roam around Causeway bay without my tour director expertise, while i went to find the lomography store. after a few steep steps I found the store with some really cool cameras. Meanwhile, mum and dad didn’t get lost at all!
Tomorrow we have a few things planned like a visit to the tea house, before we reluctantly fly home.
