I thought it was impossible, but today the sun was out and so were the people. The sleepy town of Brasov was transformed into a bustling town. Making use of the good weather, I climbed the hill to the Citadel. This was built in 1395!!!! Apparently there is a church that i’ve not found that was built in the 1200’s. Obviously a lot of restoration work has been performed over the years. There was a great view of the old town, with the black church dominating the view.
I’m not sure what was happening in town, but it started with a lot of car horns followed by a lot of sirens. This went on for about an hour. Not sure what it was about, maybe its because Romania made it into the eurovision final tomorrow night.
I wandered back down into town and across the other side where some of the wall and towers that defended Brasov are still standing. I walked along the wall, such a beautiful day for it, even the joggers and tennis players were out today.
The rest of the day was fairly relaxed. i’m trying to figure out how to book a train from Belgrade, Serbia to Podgorica, Montenegro. It exists and runs daily but I can’t seem to be able to book it anywhere. There is a flight as backup, but as I’ve made bookings for my 4 nights in Montenegro, I want to get there on the 18th. I might just book the flight as its only 75 euros, however the train ride is said to be spectacular.
Tomorrow i’m off to Sibiu, my last town in Transylvania. I really love the trains here, very comfortable and they have power sockets, which is good for watching movies on my netbook or charging my ipod.
