We left Bukara bright and early and headed back towards the desert for a bit of yurt camping. Our first stop in the morning was at one of Alexander the Greats old fortresses. Not much left of it now and I’d be lying if i said i enjoyed the climb up the hill in 40 degree heat. Still I guess I was walking in the steps of Alexander the Great.
We headed to the yurt camp to be pleasantly surprised with what appeared to be at least 3 star yurts. A shower block and a toilet block. Cold beverages and a dining tent. The showers didn’t work, or at best dribbled. Fortunately a lake was at hand for an afternoon dip. It was a short drive, so we piled into the truck, drove to the lake and promptly decided to get bogged again. I coined a new phrase “I’d rather be lost than bogged”. The t shirts will be released shortly.
Still we managed to have a swim in the lake to cool off, while we awaited a tractor to help, as digging didn’t help that much. We were only bogged for 2 hours, so nowhere near our record for the trip so far. Back to the yurt camp for some camels to wander around and dinner, which to my disappointment wasn’t camel.
