Aksu-Zhabagly NP

Today, we drove up into Aksu-Zhabagly national park. The winding, bumpy road up the side of the mountain had me throwing up on the side of the road. For those scoring at home that’s the third incident so far :-). It was a scenic drive complete with horses roaming the hills. The truck made it to a plateau, with fields of wild flowers, where we set up camp. Our guide took us on a trek to a canyon, however the guide was super keen and attempting to set a record and I soon lost sight of him as we winded our way down a goat track into the canyon. The river below was fed from a glacier and was running cold and fast. A picnic lunch and then a hike back up the canyon filled in the rest of the day. We finally got a decent cool overnight temperature, meaning sleeping in the sleeping bags was required and not on top of them. I think I spoke too soon, as it was only going to get colder!
